Anantha Pathmanabhan

Anantha leads Scientific Payload, the part of LEAP-One concerned with making a collected sample scientifically useful. His team responsibilities span analysis chambers, reagent delivery and sample-carousel handling, bringing the mechanics of sampling together with the instruments used to examine material.

A master’s student in Mechatronics & Robotics at Hochschule Schmalkalden, he combines mechanical design with automation and control. His toolkit includes CATIA and SolidWorks alongside PLC programming in TIA Portal, CODESYS and TwinCAT. He describes his European Rover Challenge experience as hands-on work designing, building and programming robotic systems—an approach that fits a science payload where mechanisms, electronics and operating sequences have to work together.

Within Aries, his leadership connects the drill and sample-handling effort with the science box, keeping the department focused on what happens after the rover reaches its target and retrieves material.
